Schneider Electric Reaffirms Inclusive Energy Push at ARE EAIF 2026

Schneider Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to affordable and sustainable electricity across Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasizing decentralized solutions as key to closing the region’s energy gap.
Speaking at the ARE Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF) 2026 in Nairobi, the company highlighted the urgent need for action, noting that millions across the region still lack reliable electricity. Data from the International Energy Agency shows Sub-Saharan Africa remains the most affected globally.
Schneider Electric is advocating for “energy democracy,” promoting community-led systems such as mini-grids and off-grid solar to improve access, affordability, and reliability.
“Access to energy must go hand in hand with strengthening human capacity and fostering local entrepreneurship,” said Ayush Gupta.
At the forum, the company showcased solutions targeting last-mile communities, including the Homaya Advanced Solar Solution, which provides clean electricity to homes, schools, and health facilities, supported by digital monitoring through EcoStruxure™ Energy Access.
It also introduced the Altivar Solar ATV320, a solar-powered water pumping system designed to improve irrigation, boost agricultural productivity, and enhance food security in off-grid areas.
Schneider Electric further highlighted its Climate Smart Village model, citing success in India where solar-powered systems have supported farming, businesses, and public services—doubling household incomes and reducing migration.
“Access to clean and reliable electricity can transform communities by unlocking economic opportunity and strengthening resilience,” said Ifeanyi Odoh.
The company says it has already enabled access to clean electricity for over 61.7 million people globally and aims to reach 100 million by 2030.
