Rogue Contractor Defies Building Laws, Puts Lives at Risk in Bandari phase 1,South C Estate
As per the April 2025 agreement letter, the developer committed to undertake all necessary repairs at no cost to affected parties should any structural damage arise directly from excavation works. The developer also pledged to compensate residents in the event of accidents involving family members or damage to property.
Despite these assurances, residents say the promised safeguards must be fully enforced to guarantee their safety.
“We believe in the rule of law. If approvals were granted with specific safety conditions, then those conditions must be strictly followed. Authorities must ensure compliance and protect residents, there is no net to or Mabati to protect us from dust and falling materials during construction that is endangering or lives here,” said a concerned homeowner.
The residents are now urging the National Construction Authority and the Nairobi City County Government to urgently intervene, carry out comprehensive inspections, and compel the developer to adhere to all approved safety and regulatory requirements.
Efforts to reach the developer for comment were unsuccessful by the time of publication.
The matter has once again highlighted growing concerns over enforcement of construction safety standards in rapidly developing residential areas, where large-scale projects increasingly border established homes.
