Doctors Raise Alarm Over Governance Crisis at The Nairobi Hospital over disobedience of court orders

A fresh governance storm has erupted at The Nairobi Hospital after doctors accused senior officials of defying multiple binding High Court orders.
In a press statement, members of the Admitting Staff Association and the Kenya Hospital Association said court orders issued between July and December 2025 restraining certain board meetings and resolutions remain in force but are allegedly being ignored.
The doctors claim the Company Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, who were placed on mandatory leave in July 2025, have refused to step aside despite board resolutions and subsisting court directives.
They also questioned the recent co-option of individuals reportedly linked to State House into the Board, asking whether the Executive is aware of governance changes made while court orders are active.
Beyond the legal battle, the medics cited financial distress, including reported multi-billion-shilling losses, supplier debts, medicine shortages, and heavy spending on legal fees and capital projects.
The doctors are now demanding immediate compliance with court orders, urgent hearing of contempt proceedings, regulatory investigations into procurement and conflicts of interest, and clarification from the Executive.
They warned that failure to enforce court authority risks undermining both the institution and the rule of law.
