Luo Professionals Back Inclusive Governance, Urge End to Political Divisions
Professionals from the Luo community, led by Frederick Okang’o, have called for inclusive governance and an end to what they described as perpetual political disagreements that continue to slow down national unity and development.
In a press briefing in Nairobi hotel, the professionals said Kenya can only move forward through unity, dialogue and cooperation across political and regional lines. They noted that prolonged political confrontations have eroded public trust and distracted leaders from addressing key socio-economic challenges facing citizens.
The group welcomed the formation of a broad-based government, terming it a critical pathway toward national healing and cohesion. They said the arrangement presents an opportunity for regions that have historically felt sidelined to benefit from government services and development projects, noting that all Kenyans contribute to the economy as taxpayers and deserve equal treatment.
They further urged the government to fully implement the 10-point agenda and the recommendations contained in the NADCO report, arguing that these reforms are essential in restoring confidence in governance and strengthening democratic institutions.
According to the professionals, the political legacy of the late Raila Odinga is closely tied to the full implementation of these reform agendas, which they said reflect long-standing calls for justice, inclusivity and accountable leadership.
The group also appealed to the youth to take up a more active role in shaping the country’s future by acquiring national identity cards and registering as voters. They emphasized that youth participation in the electoral process is vital for sustaining democracy and influencing policy decisions.
The professionals reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful engagement, national unity and inclusive development, calling on leaders and citizens alike to prioritize the country’s collective progress over political differences.
