Fire tragedy in Kariobangi Light industry, traders count massive loss
Traders in Kariobangi Light Industries are counting heavy losses following a fire that razed down several businesses, destroying property worth millions of shillings.
Among the affected traders is Maigua Gicure, a dealer in wooden products, whose workshop was completely destroyed. Speaking after the incident, Gicure expressed deep sorrow over the loss and appealed to well-wishers for assistance to help him and other affected traders rebuild their livelihoods.
In response to the tragedy, several prominent businesspeople, including Kinyua Wairatu, as well as political leaders led by the area MCA wanyoike warĂși, visited the area and donated cash, and other essential items to support the victims.
Area MCA Wanyoike WaruĂ also joined the relief efforts and called for long-term solutions to prevent similar incidents in the future. He urged the county government to improve the distribution of emergency funds to ensure faster response during disasters.
Kinyua Wairatu further emphasized the need for better road infrastructure within Kariobangi Light Industries, noting that poor access roads and narrow pathways from the main Outering Road hinder fire engines from reaching affected areas in time.
