Kenya Hosts ‘Kenya Day’ at the 25th EAC MSMEs Trade Fair
Kenya is hosting the 25th East African Community (EAC) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair, held at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.
The annual fair, which brings together entrepreneurs from all seven EAC member states, celebrates innovation, regional integration, and the growth of small businesses that form the backbone of East Africa’s economies.
Speaking during the event, government officials lauded Kenyan entrepreneurs for their creativity, resilience, and contribution to job creation and industrial growth. The theme of this year’s fair — “25 Years of Transforming MSMEs for Inclusive Growth in the EAC Region” — highlights the role of small enterprises in advancing regional trade and economic self-reliance.
Exhibitors from across Kenya showcased a wide range of locally made products, including agro-processed goods, textiles, leather items, crafts, and digital innovations. The event provided an opportunity for networking, business linkages, and cross-border trade partnerships.
Kenya’s delegation emphasized the importance of strengthening MSMEs through access to markets, financing, and capacity building, in line with the country’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The fair continues through the week, with participating countries including Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia — showcasing the growing unity and economic collaboration within the EAC bloc.
