Domestic Violence Incident on rise at Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums

Philmer Kemuma, a resident of Mukuru Kwa Njenga, is nursing serious injuries after she was brutally assaulted by her husband, Erick Osoro, early Sunday morning.

Kemuma, a mother of two young children, says she has endured repeated domestic abuse for a long time. The situation escalated this morning after she was hit in the eye, causing her to lose her vision.

Speaking in distress while seeking refuge at a neighbour’s house, she narrated the ordeal:
“He started beating me at around 1 a.m. when he came home looking drunk. I didn’t fight back… he strangled me—these are the marks. I’m now sleeping at this neighbour’s place. He always beats me,” she said.

Despite the severity of her injuries, Kemuma has not received any medical attention, and no official action has been taken against the suspect.

Residents of the area are calling on authorities and gender-rights organisations to intervene urgently, provide her with medical care, and ensure her justice and safety, warning that her life may be in danger.
