Competition Authority Pledges to Promote Fair Play in Agriculture Sector
The Director General of the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK), David Kibet Kimei, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration among stakeholders to foster fair competition within the agriculture sector.
Speaking during the Agricultural Network Summit at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Kimei emphasized that fair competition is vital for ensuring equitable growth and protecting consumers’ rights across the value chain.
He noted that the Authority is currently formulating policies aimed at safeguarding agricultural products and enhancing oversight in e-commerce, to ensure farmers, traders, and consumers benefit from transparent market practices.
Kimei when having a one on one side interview with journalist added that the CAK will continue engaging with industry players and policymakers to create an enabling environment that promotes innovation, efficiency, and consumer protection in Kenya’s rapidly evolving agricultural market.
